Brief History
Bobby Cure originated in 1978, when Bobby Cure opened his night club, Bobby's Place on St. Bernard Hwy. in Chalmette. Original band members included Ray Blazio, Jerry Rouselle, and Pete Vinturella.
In 1979, Mike Zingale was hired to play keyboards and bass at the club. In May of 1982, right out of college, Gerard Gegenheimer was hired to play drums and Tom Fouquet was hired to play guitar.
The Summertime Blues began playing backup for Pappy's "Gong Shows". The Summertime Blues was then known as "the best backup band in the city". Many people came to these talent shows because they felt very comfortable with the Summertime Blues. One particular contestant who won many shows and was very comfortable with the band, and when Bobby's female singer took ill, Robyn Casserino became a permanent member of the band.
Tom Foquet left to pursue other careers when Bill Van Pelt became available.
Bobby put on concerts at his club with many notable acts including Aaron Neville, Frankie Ford, Gene Knight, Irma Thomas, Ernie K-Doe, and Fats Domino.
Soon the band decides they needed a sax payer this is when Scott Paretti was hired. In October of 1995, Scott pursued another career and was replaced by Ward Smith.
The two newest memebers are on drums Tony Seruntine and on bass guitar John Costello!
